Health and safety policy

Allied Worldwide's health and safety policy has been prepared under the guidance of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). We provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions, equipment and systems for all our employees. We also provide information, training and supervision as required for this purpose. Both management and employees have a vital role in the implementation and maintenance of our health and safety programme.

It is our policy to reduce accidents, injuries and work-related illnesses to the lowest level practicable. Where hazards exist, we will evaluate, control and bring these to the attention of our employees. We have a legal duty to co-operate in all safety-related matters, not to endanger ourselves or others and not to misuse anything provided for safety. In particular, all persons must ensure that appropriate safety rules are followed.

The allocation of duties for safety matters and the particular arrangements that we make to implement the policy are set up within the main policy.

The policy will be kept up to date, particularly as the business changes in nature and size. To ensure this, the policy and the way in which it has operated will be reviewed annually.

Environment policy

Allied Worldwide's policy for the disposal of equipment that is surplus to the requirements of the original purchasing unit is as follows:

Reasonable efforts should be made to see if any other unit is able to make use of the equipment. Equipment that has residual value may be sold or donated to members or outside bodies, subject to terms and conditions. If the equipment cannot be reused, it will be recycled or disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner.
Allied Worldwide ensures that any data on the machine and software licensed to the client will be removed in compliance with the Data Protection Act. In addition, we comply with relevant statutes including EU directives, the Environment Protection (Duty of Care) Regulation 1991 and the Waste Management Licensing Regulation 1994.

Quality

Allied Worldwide first received the ISO 9001:2000 quality accreditation in 1992 and has since retained it. We transferred over to the new ISO 9001:2000 a year ahead of the deadline.

Quality is an integral part of Allied Worldwide's service delivery mechanism to ensure that our clients' expectations are not only met, but exceeded when possible. Allied Worldwide is appraised by an external auditor every six months to ensure conformity to accreditation regulations and, in addition, our quality teams carry out regular audits both in-house and onsite. A full report on our QMS is presented at board meetings and the board of directors is fully committed to maintaining a smooth, efficient and effective QMS. We use this as a means to continually review our high standards and ensure they are maintained throughout the business.
