| Sep 2007 - CIT Breakfast Briefing |
| |
Centre for Integral Transformation conducted a breakfast briefing session on 13th September 2007, at Smiths of Smithfield in London. The session was focussed on the topic of cultural conversations and its importance in the process of transformation, a topic high on the agenda of many a board particularly in the IT space. The event was well attended by many industry leaders who brought in their individual perspectives to make the session extremely insightful and informative.
The topic assumes a lot of relevance as the economy is facing a current of recession and organisations are being forced to re-look at the way in which they are operating. They are faced with everyday questions on |
How to facilitate growth whilst containing costs |
Head count restrictions |
Shortage of skilled manpower |
Challenges in managing change during globalisation |
The importance of cultural conversations in business transformation was demonstrated through a four year study of 200 firms in 20 industries by Kotter and Heskett of Harvard Business School which revealed that organisations with a strong adaptive culture based on shared values, outperformed firms with rigid or weak cultures by a significant margin.
Terry Thorpe, Consultant, Centre for Integral Transformation initiated the discussion by spending a few minutes sharing his successful strategies and experiences in the last 35+ years, which led him to his current ‘holistic view’ of change, or in his words ‘Transformation’.
John Hemingway, Principal Consultant, Centre for Integral Transformation then described a practical process by which an organisation can assess and transform corporate culture along with some real world examples. |
